the story behind my practice

building confident readers,

one child at a time.

Hi! I'm Michelle. With 15 years as an educational interventionist, I specialize in structured literacy support using the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Science of Reading. My work is evidence-based, multisensory, and tailored to each student’s unique learning profile. I believe that every child can develop strong reading, writing, and spelling skills when instruction is structured, systematic, and aligned with how their brain learns best.

I integrate knowledge of ADHD and executive function into every session. This provides a unique framework for how I deliver literacy instruction. Lessons are paced and structured to support attention, working memory, and organization, creating a learning environment where students feel capable, engaged, and successful.

Over the years, I have seen that academic progress is strongest when students feel safe, supported, and encouraged. I prioritize creating a space that is warm, playful, and confidence-building. When students feel seen and understood, their academic potential and self-belief often exceed what they or their families thought possible.

my approach

Where structured literacy meets compassionate, brain-based teaching.

  • Personalized Instruction: Every student receives a tailored literacy plan that targets the specific skills they need most, from decoding and phonemic awareness to reading comprehension and writing.
  • Evidence-Based Methods: I use the Orton-Gillingham approach and principles from the Science of Reading to ensure instruction is structured, explicit, and multisensory.
  • ADHD & Executive Function Lens: Lessons include strategies for focus, self-regulation, planning, and organization so students can engage with learning more successfully.
  • Confidence & Resilience: Beyond academics: I help students develop self-advocacy, independence, and a sense of ownership over their learning.

philosophy & vision

Connecting evidence-based literacy instruction with the unique minds and strengths of every learner.

I believe that literacy is more than decoding words. I believe it's about helping students feel capable, independent, and proud. I see my role as a bridge between evidence-based literacy science and the day-to-day realities of learners who think and focus differently. Every lesson is designed to help students gain skills, confidence, and a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom.
