About Me
I am a Certified Orton-Gillingham Supervisor/Practitioner providing structured language and literacy support using the Orton-Gillingham approach. I have over twelve years of experience working in the educational field and have built many success stories over the years of working with my students. I am a certified OG Canada Orton-Gillingham Supervisor and Evaluator and a Supervising Mentor to other Orton-Gillingham practitioners. I am a member of the Advisory Council for the OG Canada and I am also a member of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).
I offer online lessons in 1:1 or small group settings. Lesson packages include detailed intervention plans, initial formal and informal assessments, regular parent meetings and consultations and three progress reports throughout the school year.
I completed my Orton-Gillingham Training through Surrey College. I hold my Associate Teaching Certificate in Speech and Drama (ATCL) from Trinity College of London, a Professional Communications Diploma from Capilano University and a Broadcasting Education Diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. I have completed the Mindfulness in the Classroom training from Mindful Schools and Level 1 Teacher Certification through CHI School. I am committed to ensuring the safety of all children and, as such, have successfully completed the Commit to Kids comprehensive training through the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
I am a certified Executive Function Coach through Connections in Mind (UK). I am now offering individual executive function coaching to neurodiverse learners using a research-based approach to changes in behaviour that is learner-led. I am very excited that I am adding this specialized training to my toolkit for individual coaching clients but also to my current literacy practice.
I have recently become very interested in the Structured Word Inquiry (SWI) learning process and, as such, have completed my SWI training through the Dyslexia Training Institute. I continue to be a word scholar by studying with Real Spelling and other SWI based scholars in order coach and provide the best support that I can to my students using this scientific-based, enquiry-led approach.
I am passionate about creating a fun, engaging, and supportive learning space. I always aim to help my students feel safe and supported.
